Comparing performance of discomfort glare metrics in high and low adaptation levels

چکیده

Current discomfort glare prediction metrics usually account for at least one of the two categories effects that induce – saturation and contrast effects. Saturation-driven (overall illuminance on eye) are suited brightly lit scenes in general. On contrary, contrast-driven (luminance ratio field view) perform better high conditions such as with small-sized bright sources. Only a few existing consider both effects, Daylight Glare Probability (DGP). However, even these “hybrid” may underperform other than those considered when they were developed, dim glare. This paper investigates ability current indicators to predict perceived user-evaluated depending different adaptation levels. Towards this end, we used composite dataset six laboratory studies performed previously separately various parts world. According Receiver Operator Characteristics (ROC) findings complementary statistical research, hybrid DGP Eccologit best investigated ranges (dimmer brighter scenes). For single-effect metrics, appear saturation-driven lower levels scenes), while reverse is seen higher (brighter As result, only effect should be caution. Although continue well scenes, further research needed extend their applicability larger variety lighting observed work environments. • We classified compared predictive performance vs. scenes. done daylight-dominated office-like settings. Hybrid generally all scenarios. In bright-light scenarios, outperformed metrics. low-light

Macular pigment and visual performance in glare: benefits for photostress recovery, disability glare, and visual discomfort.

PURPOSE One theory of macular pigment's (MP) presence in the fovea is to improve visual performance in glare. This study sought to determine the effect of MP level on three aspects of visual performance in glare: photostress recovery, disability glare, and visual discomfort. METHODS Twenty-six subjects participated in the study. Spatial profiles of MP optical density were assessed with hetero...

Cortical hyperexcitability and sensitivity to discomfort glare

It is well established that there are two main aspects to glare, the visual impairment and the discomfort, known as disability and discomfort glare, respectively. In contrast to the case of disability glare we understand very little about the underlying mechanisms or physiology of discomfort glare. This study attempts to elucidate the neural mechanisms involved using fMRI and glare sources with...

Mechanisms for discomfort glare in central vision.

PURPOSE The presence of a bright light source in the visual field can generate visual discomfort. Based on empirical observations we can predict to a reasonable degree of accuracy how uncomfortable a given lighting installation is likely to be; yet very little is known about the mechanism or physiological underpinnings that lead to visual discomfort. This study attempts to elucidate some of the...

the role of application of dynamic assessment approach in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels

the present study sought to investigate the role of dynamic assessment (da) in improvement of iranian efl writing performance at different language proficiency levels. to this end, after conducting the quick placement test, 60 iranian efl learners were assigned to two groups with different language proficiency levels. in both groups each participant wrote two compositions, one before and one af...

the effect of task cognitive complexity and time limit on the performance of the learners with different proficiency levels in second language writing skill

this study investigated the effects of manipulating the cognitive complexity of tasks along +/- few elements and the time limits on l2 learners writing performance. to conduct the study, 60 iranian efl learners with two levels of proficiency, low and high intermediate, were selected and assigned to three groups based on the time devoted to task completion. the participants performed both a simp...
